Dr. Laura
Dr. Laura was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Miami, Florida. Since she was a child, she knew that she wanted to work with animals. Veterinary medicine has been the perfect combination of both her passions: Making a difference in the lives of people and animals.
Her dream was started in May 2013 when she graduated with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. Over the past four years, her care and compassion for the well-being of animals have taken her to communities in Latin America, as a World Vets Team Member, to provide free medical and surgical care to animals in need.
Dr. Laura has a keen understanding of the human-animal bond. While at Washington State University, she became very involved with the WSU Pet Loss Hotline, helping pet owners from across the country cope with grief over the loss of their beloved pets. She is dedicated to honoring the human-animal bond by providing exceptional and compassionate care to pet owners and their furry families through all life stages. She has been the sole owner of Lighthouse Pet Clinic since December 2015.
Dr. Laura has a passion for wellness of both animals and people. In 2018, she started a nonprofit organization named Andrew’s Anthem in honor of her son. A portion of the proceeds from the clinic go support this important cause which helps supports teens, young adults, and their families in developing a strong foundation of mental well-being. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, exercising, teaching mindfulness and mindful self-compassion, archery, bowling, and spending quality time with her children. Her fur family includes several dogs and cats.
